Fire hall mural is a 75th Anniversary tribute

A mural has been added to a back wall in the Maple Lake Fire Hall that will serve as a lasting tribute to firefighters as they mark the 75th anniversary of the Maple Lake Fire Department.

Doreen Fobbe, wife of firefighter Bill Fobbe, created the mural which depicts two firefighters attacking a burning building.

“I’ve done other artistic things around town and Todd Borell (ML Fire Chief) asked me if I would do a mural,” she said. Fobbe began her project about three weeks ago and has about

36 hours invested thus far in the effort. She said yet to come will be trim around the windows in the mural, a tree on the left side, and more smoke in the scene. The mural will be completed and on display for the MLFD 75th anniversary celebration on July 7.
