1850s & early 1860s -Arrival of immigrants, predominately from County Clare, Ireland

1858 -Establishment of the town location due to the selection of a mail site

1866 -Construction of a one-room log structure as the first Maple Lake area school

1882 -Establishment of a school in the village of Maple Lake

1886 -Platting of the village of Maple Lake by James Madigan

1889 -Arrival of the Soo Line railroad through Maple Lake

1890 -Incorporation of the City of Maple Lake and organization of the first fire department

1904 -Beginning of area rural mail delivery

1908 -Completion of Maple Lake’s first grade 1 through 12 school facility

1910 -First class of graduates from Maple Lake High School

1910-1912 -Construction of a water tower and water/sewer mains

1937 -Re-establishment of the Maple Lake Fire Department

1942 -Tornado that destroyed or damaged many buildings in the downtown area 1950 -Opening of Irish Stadium,

home of the Maple Lake Lakers 1952 -Opening of St. Timothy’s

School

1955 -Opening of Camp Courage

1978 -Completion of the first of the two senior housing units at Maple Manor

1990 -Completion of the current Maple Lake Elementary and the volunteer effort to build Centennial Playground during Maple Lake’s Centennial year

1991 -Opening of the Bolduan Park softball fields

2008 -Reconstruction of Birch Avenue 2009 -Opening of the Maple Lake
