In 2010, the Minnesota Baseball Association selected the communities of Maple Lake, Delano and Howard Lake to host the 2013 Class B & C State Amateur Baseball Tournament.
The 2013 tournament will mark the third time Maple Lake and Delano have co-hosted the tournament. Maple Lake and Delano last co-hosted the 1997 tournament and attracted 14,152 fans. The first partnership by the two cities to host the state tournament was in 1984.
Maple Lake and Delano will be the primary sites of the 2013 tournament and Howard Lake will serve as the third site to facilitate first-round games and any necessary weather-related rescheduling. The 2012 state tournament is set for St. Cloud.
The State Amateur Baseball Tournament has been held annually throughout the state since 1924. Today, there are more than 325 active amateur baseball teams in Minnesota, playing in more than 30 leagues, with major concentrations in the southern and central areas of the state. The tournament runs three consecutive weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) with the third and final weekend on the Labor Day weekend. The championship games for each class are always on Labor Day.
