Buffalo, established in 1856, is Maple Lake’s neighbor to the east, seven miles down Highway 55.

As the county seat, Buffalo is growing rapidly and now has a population of more than 15,000. It lies between the shores of two major recreational lakes, Buffalo Lake and Lake Pulaski. The Buffalo Days festival is celebrated each year in early June.
