Ryan Holt dies on June 3

Ryan Holt, three-year-old son of Jeff and Cari (Williams) Holt, died on June 3 at his home in Buffalo.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Visitation will be on Friday, June 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo and also one hour before the services on Saturday. Burial will be at Groveland Cemetary in Minnetonka. In November, Ryan was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a rare form of cancer with only a 50 percent chance of survival. Since November, Ryan had undergone agressive chemotherapy treatments at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.

To support Ryan and his family in their fight against leukemia, friends and family hosted several fund-raisers that drew wide support from residents throughout the area.

Ryan’s family has strong ties to Maple Lake. His mother, Cari, is a 1988 graduate of Maple Lake High School. Grandparents, Karsten and Cherryl Williams are Maple Lake residents and Cherryl is a member of the Maple Lake School Board. Cari’s sister, Dana Luc, is a teacher at Maple Lake Elementary.

Ryan is also survived by sisters Taylor and Lauren, and brother, Brandon. A complete obituary will appear in next week’s Messenger. Funeral arrangements are with Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
