ML Chamber supports city hall project

The Maple Lake Chamber of Commerce has gone on the record in support of the city hall project.

At its monthly meeting on May 3, the Chamber passed a unanimous resolution supporting the construction of a new city hall on the corner of Birch Avenue and Division Street in downtown Maple Lake.

On June 20, Maple Lake residents will vote on whether to authorize the city to issue capital improvement bonds in an amount not to exceed $1.35 million that would provide funding for a new city hall.

Originally presented as a $1.5 million project, the plans for the building were reduced as a compromise to those who objected to its size and cost. The current plans call for a building footprint of 6,475 square feet, with a main floor for council chambers and city offices, a basement for storage and a community room, and an upper floor for future city use or as rental space for downtown businesses.
