Esther Stuewe, Hamburg



On Wednesday, July 26, 2006, Esther Stuewe entered her eternal rest at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 20 days.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Esther Stuewe, age 86, of Hamburg were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2006, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. Officiating was the Rev. Donald Andrix. The organist was Betsy Werner. Serving as casket bearers were Randy Thiesfeld, Dan Jochum, Michael Stuewe, Jeff Stuewe, Dean Stuewe, Josh Stuewe, Tim Stuewe, Chet Stuewe, Sean Stuewe and Andy Stuewe. The honorary casket bearers were the grandchildren. Interment followed the church service in the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday evening at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood-Young America.

Esther Dora Lydia (Rolf) Stuewe was born the daughter of Samuel and Marie (Henschen) Rolf on February 6, 1920, in Young America Township of Carver County. She was baptized on February 15, 1920, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hamburg by Rev. Bouman. Esther attended the Emanuel Parochial School. On March 25, 1934, Esther was confirmed in the faith at Emanuel by Rev. Bouman. On April 10, 1939, she was united in marriage with Howard Stuewe at Emanuel by Rev. Bouman. The couple made their home on a farm just outside of Hamburg. Esther suffered the death of her husband in September of 1999. She continued to live on the farm until the winter of 2003 when she became a resident at Westwood Place in Watertown. In July of 2005 she moved to the Lighthouse in Waconia where she lived until becoming a resident at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center in January of this year. She enjoyed volunteering at Emanuel’s church and school, gardening, flowers and playing cards. Esther cherished whenever the family would be together and loved following her children and grandchildren in their activities.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Friedel Thiesfeld, brother, Henry Rolf, infant brother, Lorenz Rolf, sisters, Hilda Eggers and Malinda Buckentine.

Esther is survived by children, Dorlene Thiesfeld of White Bear Lake, Dennis Stuewe (wife: Rita) of Somerset, NJ, Wendell Stuewe (wife: Joan) of Hamburg, Myron Stuewe (wife: Monique) of Hamburg, Corliss Jochum (husband: James) of Carver, Gerald Stuewe (wife: Donna) of Hamburg, James Stuewe of Hamburg, Dale Stuewe (wife: Karene) of Hamburg, David Stuewe (wife: Joyce) of Apple Valley, Janice Stuewe of Lester Prairie, Curtis Stuewe of Hamburg, Lori Paumen (husband: Brian) of Maple Lake; grandchildren and spouses, Kim and Joe McAulay, Randy and Ruth Thiesfeld, Denise and J.J.
