Girls’ basketball gets two big wins

On the road for the 12th time this season, the Irish went to Royalton to compete in a non-conference game. The Irish played hard throughout the whole game, especially doing well on the defensive end. The Irish came out on top, 51-31.
From start to finish, the Irish played tough man-to-man defense, forcing the Royals to have many turnovers through the course of the game. Unable to create an offensive rhythm due to a mysterious match-up zone, the Irish had to rely on their pressure defense in order to come out with a victory. The halftime score was 28-17.
Continuing to hound the Royals defensively in the second half, the Irish were able to improve on executing on the offensive end while still performing solid defense. The Irish stretched their lead to about 20 by the sound of the final horn with a score of 51-31.
“Brooke Decker led the team in scoring with 20 points and also had 5 assists,” said Head Coach Adam Ronnenberg. “Shelby Rachel ripped down 15 rebounds. Rachel Latour continued her hot shooting from the perimeter, knocking down 3 of 5 three-pointers.”
Rebounding stats were nearly even with the Irish edging out the Royals with 40-39.
