Irish basketball players honored

This year’s Irish boys’ basketball banquet was hosted at Madigan’s Pub & Grill on Sunday, April 10.
The banquet started out with a list of numerous thank-you’s to all the people who made the basketball season possible, and successful. That was followed with a summary of the season given by Coach Tim Staloch.
“The 2010-2011 season was a very enjoyable season,” Staloch said. “Our players stayed positive, worked hard, and never stopped believing. They represented our school well, on and off of the floor.”
Highlights of the season were: Finishing second in the conference, going 6-1 the second time through the conference, and coming back to win the game after being behind by double digits to Holdingford with only eight minutes remaining.
Team-voted awards went as follows: Offensive Player of the Year-Mitch Wurm; Defensive Player of the Year-Jordan Goelz; Most Improved-Joey Mooney; Hardest Worker-Jordan Goelz.
