Players, coaches and parents celebrated the best season for a football team in school history with a program on Wednesday, Dec. 22, in the Maple Lake High School auditorium.
Head Coach Tim Knudsen emceed the program, with help from assistance coaches Tim Staloch, Tony Smith, Adam Ronnenberg and Aaron Hegle.
Knudsen began by thanking his wife, Mary, and noted they will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary on January 19. “She’s been a big part of my life, doing what I love to do, and that’s coach football,” he said.
Knudsen also offered thanks to Activities Director Dave Schroeder, his coaches, trainer Dean Adams, Doug Kelm for his work with the Touchdown Club and the football program, parents and, of course, his team.
The 2010 Irish football team won the Class 2A Section 4 title, and became the first Maple Lake football team to earn a trip to state.
“You are respected in this area for things you’ve done on and off the field,” Knudsen told his team.
