Lakers 7, Delano A’s 3

With good control, it took Mitch Wurm an hour and forty minutes knock off the A’s at Irish Stadium on Sunday, June 24, for a complete game win. He scattered 9 hits, struck out 7, and walked one. Third baseman Graham Brown batting in the lead-off spot had a big night. The speedster went 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI’s. Brian Redemske was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. The Lakers played errorless ball with outstanding plays by Luke Fobbe at shortstop, Graham at third base, and Brian Russell in right field. The Lakers jumped out ahead in their half of the first inning. Graham singled, Luke Fobbe bunted for a hit, and Chad Raiche loaded the bases with a hit that fell between Delano’s left- and center-fielders, the runners having to hold up to see if the ball would be caught. Dusty Decker followed up with a bloop double to right center that plated two runs. In the fourth, Redemske banged one off the center-field fence for a double to drive in Mitch Wurm and scored on Russell’s single. Maple Lake added three more runs in the eighth. Wurm singled and was replaced by pinch runner Jake Johnson, who eventually scored on a wild pitch. With one out, Cody Decker walked and Riley Decker pinch ran for him. Redemske was hit by a pitch. After a strikeout, Brown laced a solid single to send Riley and Redemske home. Nine hits can win some games, but two Delano batters totaled seven of the A’s hits. Shortstop Trevor Jaunich was 4-for-4 with two doubles and a solo home run to right center in the eighth. Veteran catcher Andy Brown was 3-for-4 with a double. Ryan Hayes and Jay Stevens each drove in a run. Delano didn’t score until the fourth inning
