The Maple Lake American Legion baseball team took on the Delano Tigers in the final game of the year. The Irish, who missed the playoffs by one game, were playing for bragging rights against a stout Tiger team. The Irish gave an outstanding effort, but in the end lost yet again by a score of 7-6. Tony Goelz started on the mound for Maple Lake; he pitched well but was forced to leave the hill by a sore shoulder after only three innings. Goelz kept his team in the game, throwing strikes while relying on his teammates to make plays in the field. Sullivan Graham entered the game in relief of Goelz and quickly found his stride. Graham too, kept his team in the game, throwing quality pitches when it counted.
