Marty Francis Michaelis, Monticello

Marty Francis Michaelis, age 28 of Monticello, disappeared on August 5, 2011, while tubing in the Mississippi River and was recovered near Otsego on Thursday, August 18, 2011. Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Silver Creek, 11390 Elliot Avenue NW, Maple Lake. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church. Rev. Dave Fretham will officiate. There will be a private interment.  
Marty was born on April 26, 1983, in Monticello to James and Marcia (Dirkswager) Michaelis. He grew up in the Monticello and Becker areas.  He worked in the construction industry. Marty enjoyed fishing, playing cards, riding bike and camping.  
He is survived by his father, Jim (Sherna) Michaelis of Royalton;  mother, Marcia Hubbard of Brahm; brothers, Mark of Monticello, and Matthew of Indiana; stepsisters, Audra (Paul) Dahlheimer of Monticello, and Melinda (Fabian) Schlegel of Lexington, VA; grandparents, Marvin and Dorothy Dirkswager; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ronald “Red” and Agnes Michaelis; and uncle, Marshall Dirkswager.    
Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
