Nicholas Paul Zirbes, Maple Lake
Nicholas Paul Zirbes, age 23, of Maple Lake, died on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at the Buffalo Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at 4 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A visitation will be held at the chapel beginning at 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
Nicholas Zirbes was born in St. Louis Park, MN on May 20, 1988, the son of Mary A. Zirbes and Paul Hughes. Nicholas' pride and joy was his pitbull Karmen, who was his constant companion. He loved spending time with his many friends listening to music, watching movies and playing video games. Nick spent his adolescent years living in the Lake Minnetonka area where he enjoyed playing youth hockey and swimming at the lake.
He is survived by his mother, Mary A. Zirbes of Maple Lake, his father, Paul W. Hughes of Palmdale, CA; his guardian, Steve Venne of Kansas City; sister, Sarah Hughes; his maternal grandmother, June Zirbes of Melrose; aunts and uncles, Joan (Ken) Voigt, Don (Carol) Zirbes, Linda (Lonny) LaForge, Debra (Brendan) Larson, Rebecca (Jess) Roering, and June (Dave Richards) Dahlen; numerous cousins and many special friends, including Jed Rasmussen, Adam Gadbaw, Matt Rutton, and Ramey Olson.
Preceded in death by his materal grandfather, Donald Henry Zirbes, and by sister, Ashley Jean Hughes.
