Greg Thomes, Mike Raiche and Nick Olsen of the Maple Lake Property Owners Association accepted a check for $1,000 from Jody and Jim Churchill, owners of H&H Sport Shop, as a major sponsor of the 36th Annual Maple Lake Ice Fishing Derby.
This year’s derby is set for Saturday, February 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Maple Lake. Among the hundreds of prizes to be given away is the new fish house pictured behind the group at left, which will go to the angler who brings in the 36th largest northern pike.
Kids in fifth through seventh grades who have never been fishing are invited to try it during the derby with all equipment provided. Other activities include dinner and music at the Maple Lake Legion on Feb. 4, the Arctic Plunge and the Ice Auger Drilling Contest.
