Wrestling wins keep adding up

The Lightning added another win to their overall and conference records this week as they downed Waconia in action Friday evening. The ANML wrestlers also claimed team championship honors at the Eden Prairie Invitational on Saturday. The annual individual tournament hosted by the Eden Prairie wrestling team saw seven Lightning wrestlers in the finals with five claiming the title at their respective weights.
Wright County Conference action got underway Friday night at Annandale High School as the Lightning put their unblemished conference record on the line against the Waconia Wildcats. The Wildcats came to scrap and after ANML’s Joe Mosley claimed a third period tech fall at 103, Waconia claimed a major decision at 112 lbs. to make it a 5-4 Lightning lead. 
Jordan Hanan, back in the Lightning line-up at 119 lbs., added to the Lightning total with a fall at 4:27 into his match against Casey Major. 
Matt Fuller followed Hanan at 125 lbs. and helped stretch the Lightning lead to 17-4 with a fall in :31. 
Alex Couette followed his teammate, Fuller, at 130 lbs. and with multiple takedowns was able to upend Waconia’s Nick Asmussen 22-7. 
Waconia grabbed six points at 135 lbs. but ANMLer Isaac Hendrickson reclaimed the large lead for the Lightning with a late second period fall at 140 lbs.
