The Maple Lake High School Geography Bee was Thursday, Jan. 9. The annual event is sponsored by the National Geographic Society. 
All seventh and eighth graders competed in the preliminary round, and 10 made the final round.
Remington Lilya took first place, with Henry Stecker and Jacob Fynboh in second and third. Lilya will take a  test to see if he will be in the state competition  in April. 
State winners will compete in May at the National Geographic Society in Washington, D.C. The National Bee winner will receive a $50,000 scholarship and a trip to the Galapagos Island.
