The what, when and where of St. Pat’s
What’s happening when and where during Maple Lake’s 37th annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival? Here’s the run-down.
More than 35 craft vendors will fill the Maple Lake Elementary gymnasium for the Annual Craft Sale. The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact coordinator Betty Gordon at 320-963-5351 for more information.
Registration for the Irish Scamper will also begin at 9 a.m. in the Maple Lake High School commons. The 5K run is hosted by the Maple Lake Irish track and field team. It will begin at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Birch Avenue and Division Street in downtown Maple Lake. An awards ceremony is set for shortly after the race in the high school commons. More information, including registration forms, can be found at www.raceberryjam.com/scamper. Registration forms may also be picked up at the Maple Lake High School office.
The Grande Day Parade will feature more than 110 entries. It is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. near the community park on Division Street. Lineup will begin at 12:30 p.m. Contact Deb Geyen at 320-980-3144 or Irene Hudek at 320-963-6555 or 612-270-8586.
Three new Maple Lake Ambassadors will be crowned during the coronation. It is slated to begin after the parade at about 4 p.m. in the Maple Lake High School gymnasium. Admission for the coronation is $5, with children 5 and younger free. Parade awards will also be presented during the program. For more information about this year’s candidates, see pages 6 and 7.
The Maple Lake Lions Club will serve Mulligan Stew and other refreshments from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the American Legion Club.
Beginning at 5 p.m., the Maple Lake Fire Department will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs at the American Legion Club.
In addition, other civic organizations, restaurants and businesses will be offering St. Patrick’s Day specials throughout the day.
