The Lakers wrapped up the regular season Sunday, finishing first in the North Star League with a 20-2 record. The Lakers will have the top seed in the Region 12C tournament, which will be in Maple Lake starting July 30.

Dassel-Cokato Saints   2
Maple Lake Lakers     5
The Lakers hosted a spirited D-C Saints team who was looking to avenge a 10-3 loss earlier in the year.
The Saints put pressure on early, putting men in scoring position in the early innings before they managed to get two across in the top of the third.
Starting pitcher Mitch Wurm helped himself in the fifth by scoring the first Laker run while Derek Rachel added another to tie the game.
The Saints buckled down after giving up the lead, changing pitchers and largely shutting down the Laker offense. Dassel’s pitcher started to waiver in the ninth and the Lakers were able to capitalize, putting two men on before Rachel blasted a walk-off, three-run home run over the left-center fence, securing the win and the regular-season title.
Wurm pitched all nine innings and gave up seven hits and one walk with eight strikeouts.
