Wright County Sheriff’s Office issues 224 speeding tickets in July
With July came a statewide focus on speeders and individuals not wearing their seatbelts.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office issued 224 speeding tickets during the 18-day stretch, the second most speeding tickets of any county outside the metro area, with only Olmsted County issuing 20 more.
Enhanced speed enforcement coupled with educational programming was the focus of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety’s July speed enforcement campaign.
Between 2011 and 2013, illegal and unsafe speeding contributed to 235 deaths and 666 serious injuries, according to DPS/OTS. In almost one in four fatal crashes throughout the state over the past 10 years, speed has been a factor.
