Pvt. Kenna Prosser-O’Leary earns title ‘U.S. Marine’


Area native, Pvt.  Kenna Prosser-O’Leary, 19 years of age, earned the title “U.S. Marine” upon graduating from Marine Corps recruit training in Parris Island, SC on May 9, 2014.
Putting her recruit’s honor, courage and commitment to the test, Prosser-O’Leary faced the physically and mentally rigorous challenges packed into the 13 weeks of Marine Corps boot camp. The training was designed to enhance raw talent and to create the morale and discipline required of all Marines.
During recruit training, Prosser-O’Leary joined others from across the country to undertake the quest to be among the world’s military elite. She learned time-honored military customs and courtesies and mastered close-order drill. The demanding physical fitness regimen placed Prosser-O’Leary in the best shape of her life. The training honed vital military skills such as marksmanship, first-aid, martial arts and leadership.
Prosser-O’Leary is a 2013 graduate of Maple Lake High School, MN. Prosser-O’Leary was enlisted by Sgt. David Verdoorn the Marine Corps recruiting station in Buffalo.
