Notes from Archival Corner, Maple Lake Library

The archival collection continues to grow. We currently have a collection of over 2,460 obituaries, 740 marriage records, over 2,500 catalogued pictures, the school yearbooks scanned to 1983, and an archival catalogue full of news articles on every aspect of the Maple Lake community.  Every week information is added to this collection. This collection offers the opportunity to get you started on researching your family history. Yet the Maple Lake Library plans to even offer you more.
Have you made that New Year’s resolution about researching your family history but are not quite sure how to go about it? The Maple Lake Library is offering a wonderful opportunity for the month of February.  Patrons of the library will be able to research on ancestry.com for free during this month. If there is enough interest from the community in using this website, the library will provide free access for a full year.
If you are not a patron of the library, you only need to fill out an application. So come join us at the library, take advantage of this opportunity, and discover your roots. Library hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
