Iris Marie Hogan was born March 6, 1939, in Forest City, Minnesota to Leslie and Vernice (Ruhn) Hamilton. As a young girl, Iris lived with her family near Forest City before moving to Maple Lake in 1951. She attended school in Maple Lake, graduating with the Class of 1957. On February 28, 1959, Iris was united in marriage to Francis “Frank” Hogan at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Iris worked for the Maple Lake Creamery for three years, prior to Frank and her owning and operating H&H Sport Shop and Archery Supply in Maple Lake. They worked together side-by-side at the shop, in addition to raising their three children. Upon retirement, Iris and Frank enjoyed their summers at the cabin on Three Island Lake in northern Minnesota and winters in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. In her spare time, Iris enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, and tending to her flowers and gardens. She truly enjoyed summers where she could be at the cabin fishing and watching birds. Iris was a sports enthusiast, whether it be the Twins, Vikings, or her beloved Minnesota Golden Gophers. Above all, Iris treasured the time she was able to spend with all her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Frank of Maple Lake; children, Mike (Mitzi) Hogan of Maple Lake, Lynn Hogan Schlink of San Diego, CA, and Chris (Keith) Sprouls of Farmington, MN; three grandchildren, Matthew (Kathleen) Schlink, Jory Schlink, and Josh Hogan; three great-grandchildren, Easton, Autumn, and June Schlink; sisters, Joyce (Bud) Housman of Litchfield, and Joan (Joe) Fobbe of Maple Lake; and other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Vernice; and nephew, Keith Housman.
