On Wednesday, July 20th, 56 young women from various Minnesota communities came together in Minneapolis to vie for the honorary title of Queen of the Lakes at the 2016 Minneapolis Aquatennial Celebration. In years past, the Maple Lake community has been represented by remarkable young ladies such as Ebony Ortiz and Blair Stewig. This year was no exception; however, rather than have one community member in attendance, Maple Lake was represented by two distinguished young women: Fairest of the Fair 2014-2015, Maria Zaske, and 2015-2016 Maple Lake Ambassador, Maddie Nelson.
