“The Maple Lake Challenge” nine mile run

On Friday, Sept. 30, the Irish Cross Country team participated in the “Maple Lake Challenge,” a nine mile run that takes runners around Maple Lake. According to coach Ben Youngs, when J McClelland started the challenge several years ago it was called “eight miles for ice cream” and the course was just over eight miles long. Now that the road has been changed around the south side of Maple Lake, it is called “I ran nine and the ice cream is mine.” Team members who completed the run were rewarded with several kinds of ice cream.
