Runners first and fifth at St. John’s

 The Maple Lake girls cross country team cruised to a first-place finish at the Fr. Otto Weber Cross Country Invitational at St. John’s Prep for the second year in a row, Thursday, Sept. 29.
Led by Irish senior Halley Geyen, the team garnered only 35 points compared to runner-up St. Cloud Apollo who finished with 60. Eight complete teams competed.
Geyen finished third overall in a time of 21:52, but only seconds behind her was Mary Miller, an eighth grader, who crossed the finish line in 21:58 for fourth place.
Maple Lake continued to dominate the top 10 with Ava Mergen’s fifth-place finish in 22:13.
