Runners flourish on fast course

Maple Lake cross country runners achieved some of their best times ever on their way to eighth- and 18th-place team finishes, Thursday, Oct. 6, at Litchfield.
Gus DeMarais moved to No. 2 for all-time 5K school finishes with her time of 19:52.06. She was 14th out of 107 runners. Mary Miller moved to No. 4 with her time of 20:51.44. She was 37th overall. Bionca Peterson and Ava Mergen bettered their all-time 5Ks with times of 21:51.31 and 21:53.72, respectively.
Halle Geyen had a solid time as well, finishing in 21:09.06 for 46th place, coach Ben Youngs said.
“All-in-all, our scorers were on fire,” he said.
