Junior running back No. 80, Alex Toedter, charges down the field. He went 75 yards on 14 carries for the Maple Lake Irish against the Paynesville Bulldogs Friday night.

The Paynesville Bulldogs took advantage of Irish injuries to take down Maple Lake, 34-7, in Mid State Sub-District 1 play, Friday, Oct. 14, in Maple Lake.
Penalties plagued the Irish early, hurting Maple Lake's drives and keeping the home team out of the end zone in the first half. Zach Cargill snuck in a 38-yard run in the second quarter for the Irish's lone touchdown. Andy Mavencamp's kick was good for the extra point.
Paynesville kept on coming with a touchdown in the first and second quarters to end the half 14-7. Maple Lake made an attempt early in the third with a "nice" drive before injuries set in again, coach Tim Knudsen said.
The Bulldogs made it to the end zone three more times before the night was over.
