Potter, Borrell win re-election bids

The last time there was a presidential election, Wright County had to replace four county commissioners due to redistricting in the county caused by a disparity in population within the districts that required redistricting after the 2010 census.
On Nov. 8, people went to the polls, this time voting for three commissioners. Both running incumbents – Charlie Borrell and Mike Potter – won their re-election bids and both won four-year terms on the board.
Borrell won the District 5 commissioner race with 6,934 vote (56.8 percent). Challenger Jason Franzen finished with 5,238 voted (42.9 percent). In a closer race, Potter was re-elected to the District 5 board seat, garnering 4,972 votes (53.4 percent), while his opponent, Mary Wetter, finished with 4,298 votes (46.2 percent).
