Turkey Trot raises money for wrestlers

The ANML Lightning wrestling team gave away four turkeys just in time for Thanksgiving dinner, Thursday, as part of its annual Turkey Trot 5K run/walk. A total of 140 people competed in the event that takes runners and walkers through the streets of Annandale in an effort to raise money for the Annandale/Maple Lake high school wrestling program. The top men and women finishers in the 39 years and younger class, and the 40 and over class earned turkeys. Maple Lake alumni Devin Deringer was the overall winner, Thursday, and the winner of the mens 39 and younger class. Deringer is a former MLHS track and cross country runner and currently races for Moorhead State University. Mark Klaverkamp and Kim Nygaard won in the 40 and over class and Mikaela Algren won the women's 39 and under race.
