Annandale-Maple Lake wrestlers took on the No. 4 in-state ranked Foley to kick off the week, Tuesday, Jan. 17, and fell 43-16, then defeated Minneapolis South and Mound-Westonka on Friday, Jan. 20.
Foley came into Tuesday’s meet with nine straight state meet appearances under their belt and as favorites to win the section yet again.
“They were tough, but I thought we wrestled them well,” Lightning head coach Ben Youngs said. “If a couple of the close matches would have gone our way the score could have been much closer. The highlight may have been the big pin by Cole Patch at heavyweight. It was a loud headlock and really got the crowd noisy.”
