After 19 years at the helm of the Maple Lake Fire Department, Todd Borell is stepping down, and a new chief is taking his place.
Steve Peterson was elected to the position at the department’s first regular meeting of the year, Monday, Jan. 9. He’s new to the job, but with 14 years on the department under his belt, he is no rookie.
“Steve will do a good job,” Borell said. “He remains calm and he runs his own business so he knows how to deal with people.”
In fact, Borell expects the department to continue to run just as well as it has for the last 19 years under Peterson’s direction.
“I told everyone last year that 2016 was going to be my last year . . . they were prepared,” Borell said.
