Irish Scamper 5k

Five hundred brave souls tackled the Irish Scamper 5K, Saturday, March 11, despite the cold weather, and that is impressive, organizer Ben Youngs said.
“Usually the weather makes a huge difference. When it comes to hardcore runners, the weather doesn’t bother them much. They are used to it and generally know how to dress for all conditions,” he said. “However, we have many non-runners, so numbers dip in cold weather. I am sure we would have had more if it were 50 degrees, but I am happy with 500.”
Last year, when temperatures were in the 60s, the event attracted closer to 550 athletes.
