The Maple Lake Irish ended a near-perfect season at the Minnesota State High School League softball tournament last week.
Only one loss marred an otherwise untarnished record and it occurred in the final game where the Irish were pitted against defending 2A champions, Zumbrota-Mazeppa.
The Cougars handed the Maple Lake team its only loss of the season to claim yet another title. Although the Irish were gunning for it all (a perfect record and a state championship), no one can deny the girls had a great run.
