Lakers end season at state tournament


The Maple Lake Lakers baseball team ended its season Saturday night, Aug. 26 in Green Isle with a tough loss to the Jordan Brewers at the State Amateur Baseball Tourament. The Lakers lost a close 4-3 battle with the Brewers on a wet and wild Saturday night to halt their tournament run. Maple Lake started the tournament strong with a 2-0 win over St. Joseph the week before after a strong regular season that saw them to a 22-11 record and the No. 2 seed heading into state. The Maple Lake Lakers ended their season Saturday night, Aug. 26, with a tough loss to the Jordan Brewers. It was a rough weekend overall for the North Star League, with Hutchinson falling to St. Peter and Howard Lake falling to Sartell. Buffalo is the only remaining team from the league going into the final weekend.
