MICHAEL "JASON" BARKER, formerly of Maple Lake

Michael "Jason" Barker, 45, of Tupelo, Mississippi, formerly of Maple Lake, passed away on Oct. 16, 2017, at his home. Funeral services were on Oct. 20, in Nettelton, MS.
Jason was born on May 15, 1972, in Zion, IL, to Colus "Wayne" Barker and Pamela Creekmore. He attended Tupelo High School and after graduation he joined the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Hood, TX. While in the Army he was deployed twice to Kuwait. It was at Fort Hood that he met and married Jennifer Nemec. They were blessed with three boys. Jason was honorably discharged from the Army in 1996. He then moved to Maple Lake.
Jason enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, playing pool and video games.
He is survived by his three sons, Michael, August and Everett Barker, all of Maple Lake; mother, Pamela (David) Creekmore of Tupelo, MS; stepmother, Patricia Barker, of Waukegan, IL; sister, Angela (Harry) Sumrall, of Amory, MS; brothers, William (Katheryn Belcher) Jackson, of Brandon, FL, and Scott (Michelle) Barker, of Chicago, IL; paternal grandfather, Charles Bailey, of Linderenhurst, IL; maternal grandmother, Helen Patton, of Amory, MS; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Barker; grandmother, Barbara Bailey; and grandfather, Charles Patton.
