Robert Ney Park information

The Ney Nature Center is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays, January 2nd thru March 6th, from 12 to 4 p.m. During these times ski and snowshoe rentals are available: Traditional skis—ski package includes skis, boots, and poles.

Picnic Shelter
On Jan. 4, the Wright County Parks Department began accepting picnic shelter reservations for the summer of 2016 through their online line reservation system, or over the phone. The online reservations allow the user to select their dates, show available camp sites and shelters, and make payments online.

4th Annual Game-A-Thon: A fun-filled New Year’s Day

​The 4th annual GAME-A-THON will be on Friday, Jan. 1, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Buffalo Community Center, located at 206 Central Ave. in downtown Buffalo. This free event is open to the public and is family-friendly. Movies, potluck lunch, and over 100 different types of table-top games to play. Devin Deringer and Sommer Carlson earned their ticket to the 2015 State Cross Country Meet. Deringer placed 55th out of 176 runners during his first appearance at the state meet. RapidPass available for donors

RapidPass offers blood donors a way to complete their pre-reading and donation questions online from the comfort and privacy of their home or office, reducing the time they spend at blood drives by as much as 15 minutes.
Visit RapidPass, read the information, answer the questions and print the pass or email it to yourself.
RapidPass cannot be completed prior to the date of the drive; donors must complete RapidPass using a desktop or laptop computer; RapidPass does not take the place of scheduling an appointment; you must print out your pass or email the PDF to yourself and show it on your mobile device when you come to donate.


Clean-up volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to take part in Lake Maria State Park’s annual Clean Up the Park Day on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. “Individuals, families, youth groups, business organizations, religious groups and Friends of Lake Maria members are invited to prepare trails and park facilities for the winter season,” says Park Manager Mark Crawford. “Tools will be provided, but bring your own if you prefer.” Snacks and refreshments will be available.
To plan the workload, volunteers are asked to register by calling the park at 763-878-2325 or signing up on the volunteer bulletin board in the nature center.

We Scare Hunger campaign for Backpack Buddies

Students from Maple Lake High School participated in Free The Children's WE SCARE HUNGER campaign and would like to thank the community for supporting and donating on Halloween night. Donations go toward the district’s Backpack Buddies program. Backpack Buddies is a supplemental food program for students on the weekends. Students/families that qualify for free lunch are ​given the opportunity to sign up for a backpack. Missing Person: Joseph Brunn

Sheriff Joe Hagerty reports that the search for missing person Joseph Brunn will continue. Brunn, age 23 of Monticello, went missing during the early morning hours of Saturday, October 3rd. Brunn was last seen in the area of the Holiday Inn located at 9200 Quaday Ave. NE in the City of Otsego. He is described as being 5’8” tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds, and wearing black/grey dress pants, light blue button-up dress shirt, and black shoes.
Members of the Wright County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol, Recreational Services Unit, and Sheriff’s Deputies will continue their search in the Otsego and Elk River area.

Wahlquist limits out on duck opener

Myles Wahlquist shot his limit of ducks this past weekend for waterfowl opener. Myles was hunting with his grandfather, Harry Wahlquist (founder of Star Bank), and father, Andy Wahlquist (banker at Star Bank). The Maple Lake Library Book Club - Join Today!

The Maple Lake Library Book Club pose for a photo at their final summer meeting. The book club meets year-round on the second Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. at Irish Blessings Coffee House.
