St. Tim’s Fall Festival to be held Sept. 25

Come for the FUN at Maple Lake St. Timothy’s Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 25. Bingo, raffles, turkey dinner, pedal pull and kids games, live music and more.

St. Ignatius Parish Festival held on Sept. 10

The St. Ignatius Parish Festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 35 Birch St. E in Annandale. Join at 4 p.m. for polka mass and stay for fun and polka music. A German dinner, catered by Cornerstone Buffet & Restaurant out of Melrose, will be served at 5 p.m. including Sauerbraten/sausage, mashed potatoes, gravy, sauerkraut and pie. There will also be a food court serving hamburgers and hot dogs from Petty Brothers. Music until 8 p.m. by Jerry and Joyce Dance Band. The festival includes a meat raffle, bingo, CCW bake sale, cake walk, games for kids, bean bag tournament and cash raffle.

Maple Lake Airport 30th annual fly-in Sept. 10-11

The Maple Lake Municipal Airport will be hosting a fly-in and camp-out on September 10-11 to honor those who protect and serve our country and communities. Schedule for Saturday, Sept. 10: 1st annual camp-out at 2 p.m., fly-out to local airports from 5-7 p.m., chili dinner at 7 p.m., bonfire 7-11 p.m. Schedule for Sunday, Sept. 11: 30th annual fly-in with pork chop dinner, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., featuring aviation vendors, honor guard, military aircraft, fire and rescue. Paumen Family Reunion to be held on Sept. 4

124 years ago four Paumen brothers from Dilsen, Belgium, came to the United States and settled here. Once again four Paumens are traveling from Belgium to Maple Lake to meet the relatives here. A big Paumen Reunion is planned for September 4 at the Maple Lake American Legion Club. It will be a meet and greet starting at 11:00 and a chicken dinner and all the trimmings served from 11:00 to 2:00.

Kruzin’ 4 Kidz benefit bike run Aug. 27

Kruzin’ 4 Kidz will be hosting a benefit bike run on Saturday, August 27, for the U of M Masonic Children’s Hospitals and Children’s Hospitals of Clinics of MN. The day will begin at Waverly Village Hall ~ All Vehicles Welcome ~ Breakfast from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Registration from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Kickstands up at 12 p.m. with an approx. 120 miles ride. Meet back in Waverly for hog roast dinner, raffles and silent auction. Open to the public at 5 p.m. A street dance concludes the day at Uptown Bar and Grill featuring Shaw Brothers from 8 p.m. to midnight. The goal is to raise $15,780 for the 15,780 children diagnosed with cancer just last year.

Maple Lake Lions sponsor Take a Senior Fishing

On Aug. 27 the Maple Lake Lions Club will sponsor a fishing outing for seniors living at the Maple Lake Manor Apts. The event will start at 9 a.m. and will take place on Maple Lake. M&M Express will provide transportation to the lake and back to the Manor. While fishing, light refreshments for the seniors will be provided by the Lions Club. The excursion will go until 11 a.m. or noon. Late afternoon the Lions Club will provide a fish fry dinner for all Manor residents. MLE PTA seeks volunteers to paint playground

The Maple Lake Elementary PTA is seeking volunteers to help re-paint the peaceful playground at the Maple Lake Elementary on Friday, August 26, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The peaceful playground consists of a variety of stenciled games painted on the blacktop by the play structure. Kids entering 7th grade and older are welcome to come help. No special skills required. Light refreshments will be provided. Please come join us to help make the playground look beautiful again.

Search for Mrs. Wright County

Applications are being accepted for the title of Mrs. Wright County. Mrs. Wright County will have the honor of representing her county at the Mrs. Minnesota pageant, which will be held at “Wellstone Center,” April 29th, 2017, in St. Paul.
The woman chosen as “Mrs. Wright County “ will become an ambassador from the Wright County area and will receive an official title and sash.

Birth Announcements - Hudson Joseph Janiak

Scott and Heather Janiak, of Montrose, are proud to announce the birth of their son, Hudson Joseph. Hudson was born on July 1, 2016. He weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounce, and was 21.5 inches long.
He was welcomed home by siblings, Cole, Avery and Sam. Proud grandparents are Ed and Peggy Janiak, of Maple Lake, Ed Gruber, of Fairbault, and Deb Cagle, of Northfield.
