Bethlehem UCC to celebrate fall bazaar and bake sale

Bethlehem United Church of Christ is hosting their annual fall bazaar and bake sale, Saturday, October 11th, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Everyone is invited to participate and enjoy the sale which includes arts and crafts, plants, produce, baked goods, raffle, home decorations, white elephants and much more.  Raffle items include a crib quilt and framed prints. A delicious baked potato bar with the choice of chili, beef stew or traditional toppings and pie for dessert will be served throughout the bazaar.  Bethlehem UCC is located at 400 East County Road 37, Maple Lake.

Engagement: Henson-Nelson

 

Dave and Shelly Henson of Buffalo, along with Teri Nelson of Buffalo and Steve Nelson of Morton, are happy to announce the engagement of their children, Melony Henson and Samuel Nelson.
Melony is a 2010 graduate of Buffalo High School and a 2013 graduate of St. Cloud Technical Community College. She is currently employed at Huse Orthodontics in St. Cloud as a dental assistant.
Sam is a 2009 graduate of Buffalo High School and a  2011 graduate of St. Cloud Technical Community College. He is currently employed at Bolton Menk in Ramsey as a survey technician.
Their wedding will take place at  St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo on Oct. 18, 2014. The couple resides in Maple Lake.

Reunion: MLHS Class of 1954

The Maple Lake High School Class of 1954 held its 60th reunion on Saturday, September 13, at The “V” in downtown Maple Lake.   The following classmates were in attendance: Mary (Schoenecker) Stevens, Buffalo; Beverly (Kotilinek) Demarais, Buffalo; Mary Lou (Baert) Dankowski, Minneapolis; H. Jeanette (Elsenpeter) Woolstencroft, Buffalo; Jerry Fobbe, Minneapolis; Robert Cruikshank, Maple Lake; David Carlson, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; Frank Paumen, Fargo, ND; James Marohn, Annandale; Leo Oas, Poplar Grove, IL; and Melvin Borell, Maple Lake.

Birth Announcement: Otis Ronald Minear

Adam and Lizabeth Minear of Annandale have been blessed with the gift of a son, Otis Ronald.  He was born on Sept. 3, 2014, and weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces. Otis was welcomed home with love by his big sisters, Olivia and Lindsay, and his big brother, Landon.  Proud grandparents are Peter and Dorothy Minear and Jane Zeidler and the late Ronald Zeidler, all of Annandale.  Great-grandparents are DeLisle and Irene Minear of Andover and Elaine Belsheim of Cambridge.

Lions host fishing outing, build ramp


The Maple Lake Lions hosted 15 seniors during Take a Senior Fishing on Aug. 2 and fed about 40 during a fish fry that night.

Maple Lake Lions Bruce Klein, Ed Trager, John Becker and Steve Mooney built a handicap-accessible ramp for Reggie Walton on July 30 and 31.

Annandale band plays concert

Maple Lake hosted the Annandale Community Band on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the city lot located at the intersection of Birch Avenue North and Division Street West. About 30 people attended the free concert, which was sponsored by Better Than Ever Interiors and Vintage Charm Interiors.

Cloudy with a chance of crowds

As the sun set, the crowds came out for the free movie on Birch, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2," sponsored by Rhino Roto Molding, in cooperation with the City of Maple Lake and the Sherburne Wright Cable Commission. Before the main event, the 1974 version of "The Green Lantern" played on the big screen, as the crowd filed in. A couple hundred people attended the event.

Dairy princesses, ambassador visit library


Walter and Kozitka serve ice cream while Walter shares dairy trivia.

Wright County Dairy Princesses Taylor Leigh Walter and Bethany Kozitka and Ambassador Maisie Walter visited the Maple Lake Library on Monday to serve ice cream, teach dairy trivia and read books to children.
