Post Prom Party to host dinner

The fifth graders at Maple Lake Elementary will be performing the musical Update: Earth - where kids “Rock the World” for the environment on Thursday, March 17. Update: Earth is a musical review about the ongoing quest to better the world's environment. The show begins at 7:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Admission is free, and all are welcome to come.
The Maple Lake Post Prom Party Committee will be hosting a dinner at the Maple Lake VFW on Wednesday, April 6, from 5 to 7 p.m.  The dinner will include a choice of chicken strips, 21 shrimp or two pork chops. All proceeds will help support the Post Prom Party.

Spring Program planned at St. Timothy's

The annual Spring Program at St. Timothy’s School is planned for 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, in the school gym. The program, under the direction of music teacher Carrie Yerke, is entitled “The Seven Sacraments.” All students from kindergarten through sixth grade will be participating in the program. The students will be acompanied by Krista Elsenpeter Tarbox and Paul Stokman. Arts and Academics projects will be available for viewing in the halls and classrooms after the program.

Speech team takes fourth at NL-S meet

The Irish Speech team took 3rd in small school division at Fridley on Saturday, March 5.  Placing for the Irish were Jenna Anderson and Amber Dale. Next up for the squad is the Central Minnesota Conference meet Monday, March 14, at Kimball. 
The Irish speech team took 4th at the New London-Spicer speech meet on Saturday, March 19. Placing for the Irish were Lauren Nelson, 2nd in Discussion; Charlie Stejskal, 7th in Extemp. Speaking; and Amber Dale, and Jenna Anderson, 7th in Duo Interpretation.  The season continues Saturday, April 2nd, at subsection competition in Royalton.

Elementary to host Kindergarten Round-up

The Maple Lake Elementary Kindergarten Round-up and registration is set for Thursday, March 10. Kindergarten Round-up is for all children who are five years old on or before September 1, 2011, and planning to enter kindergarten next fall. The tentative schedule is as follows:
Last Names A-H: 5:30-6:15 p.m.
Last Names I-Q: 6:00-6:45 p.m.
Last Names R-Z: 6:30-7:15 p.m.

Pops Concert set for March 14

Students from Maple Lake Public Schools and St. Timothy’s School who are involved in the band will be performing in the annual Pops Concert on Monday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. It will incorporate every band in the 6-12 ages including the jazz ensemble. There will be food, beverages, prizes and fun. There will also be a grand prize giveaway of a group of four Minnesota Wild game tickets with a parking pass.

8th Grade Choir Concert on April 28

Co-Curricular Awards planned for May 2

The annual Co-Curricular awards program is scheduled for Monday, May 2, at 8 p.m. in the Maple Lake High School auditorium. Awards will be presented for academics, publications, drama, student council, speech and Irish Mentors. Awards for the band and choir programs will be presented later this spring.
