Ruth Marie Anna Hansen, daughter of Reverend William D. and Louise (Hackbarth) Kanning, was born April 11, 1927, Palm Sunday, in Fergus Falls. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith by her father on May 15, 1927, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Arlene Bryant, one of Maple
Lake's sweethearts, passed away on December 20, 2015, in Rancho Mirage. California.
Arlene was a Centurion Award winning real estate broker in Southern California.
She was born in Maple Lake and was the eldest of Harold and Luella Bryant’s three children. She was a great-granddaughter of Nicholas and Gertrude Vandergon and a granddaughter of David and Jennie Bryant, and William and Ada Thurk.
Arlene attended Maple Lake High School, where she played the lead in the musical play.
She continued her love of music by attending the University of Minnesota Macphail College of Music.
Her parents had a picturesque and thriving dairy farm in Maple Lake which was later owned and expertly run by her brother, Duane Bryant.
