MLE “I Love to Read” month finale

The Maple Lake Elementary wrapped up February’s “I Love to Read” month with a visit from author/illustrator Gary Harbo. The 1st thru 6th grade students drew along with Harbo as he demonstrated simple step-by-step lessons in drawing characters and making them unique to the person drawing them. Harbo provided many choices mixed  with a good sense of humor. This lesson builds self-confidence and allows children to explore talents that may have been hidden under a blanket of frustration.  For the kindergarten class, he read one of his books, "Where is My Sister" and showed them how to draw some of the characters.
