‘Dracula’ coming to MLHS

Maple Lake support staff recognized

Heidi Goelz, second from left, and Margie Isaacson, second from right, were honored at the third annual Leadership in Educational Excellence support staff event hosted by Resource Training and Solutions. Goelz, who works in the district office, and Isaacson, a paraprofessional at Maple Lake Elementary, are pictured with Maple Lake High School Principal Dave Hansen, Resource Executive Director Robert Cavanaugh, Maple Lake Superintendent Mark Redemske and MLE Principal Kris Harlan. “Margie is so deserving of this award,” Harlan said. “Not only is she a valuable paraprofessional who works with great patience and kindness with our special education students, but she does a thousand other things for our school community. She serves as the representative for our paraprofessional group on our Building Leadership Team.

Homecoming court ready for festivities to begin

The votes are in and the Maple Lake High School Homecoming Court has been selected. Sunday will mark the beginning of Homecoming activities, with the Powder Puff game at 4 p.m. at Irish Stadium and He-Man Volleyball at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gym.
Coronation will take place at 7 p.m. Monday and the Homecoming Parade will be Friday, Sept. 27. Volleyball and football contests against Kimball are set for Sept. 26 and 27, respectively.

New faces join staff at Maple Lake Schools

Seven new faces will greet students at Maple Lake elementary and high schools, as classes begin Tuesday. They include nurse Sarah Barder, MLE band and music instructor Elise Beckel, MLHS special education instructor Susan Bjorstrom, MLE/MLHS special education instructor Danielle Blumhoefer, MLHS social studies teacher Andrew Boman, band instructor Nathan Mitchell, Strategies for Learning Instructor Jodi Raisanen and grade 1 instructor Tia Skay. Each new staff member was asked to introduce themselves, share what they are looking forward to about their new positions and list their goals. More information appears in this week's Messenger.
