Irish track teams earn dual wins at home

The Maple Lake girls and boys track teams ran away with first-place team finishes at the first home meet of the season, Tuesday, April 26.
Catie Fobbe set a new school record in the shot put that day and was named meet MVP for winning the discus as well as the shot put. She threw the shot put 36 feet, 8 inches.

Irish baseball wins two, loses two last week

The Irish baseball team went 2-2 last week at three games on the road and one at home.
Maple Lake kicked off the week at Norwood-Young America Tuesday, April 26, where the Irish fell 1-0 despite a strong game by Irish hurler Grant Mergen.

Irish girls golf looking for players Golfers compete at first meet

The Maple Lake girls golf team is looking for more players.
Right now only three girls make up the Irish team, which means they can compete as individuals but they won’t get a team score.
“We need one more girl to compete as a team,” coach Bruce Bakeberg said.

Maple Lake High School golfers have the skills and the experience to take up where they left off last season, and maybe go a little further.
The Irish return four seniors who were a part of last season’s team that earned a Central Minnesota Conference title, the first the Maple Lake team has claimed since 2001.

The Maple Lake throwers did particularly well at a Tuesday, April 19, track meet in Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.
The boys swept the throwing events with Kyle Scherber winning the shot put and Tanner Schmid winning the discus.
Scherber threw the shot 41 feet, 1.5 inches for the winning score and Schmid threw the discus 119 feet, 5 inches to claim the title.

The Maple Lake baseball team dropped a 2-1 decision to Glencoe-Silver Lake early in the week then rebounded with two wins over Holdingford at a Thursday, April 21, double-header.

On Tuesday, April 12, the Irish traveled to Rockford and on Thursday, April 14, they competed at Norwood-Young America.
