Maple Lake Fire Chief Todd Borell was named the Maple Lake 2011 Firefighter of the Year by his peers at the Maple Lake Fire Department. The award was presented at the fire department’s annual banquet Saturday evening at the American Legion Club.
Borell, who usually doesn’t have a problem expressing himself, was completely taken by surprise when he was named the recipient following a spirited game of Family Feud by members of the Peterson Clan opposing  the winning Blizil Clan. Even at that he uttered his thanks, and like others before him, felt there were many others more deserving of the honor.
