6. M/S McAlpine/Thomas - Approve the Consent Agenda for the regular school board meeting held on Monday, December 12, 2016. Motion carries 7-0.

8. Unfinished Business
A. Summary of the superintendent’s evaluation from the November 14 meeting: Superintendent Redemske received a satisfactory rating from the board, which is the highest rating given.
B. Progress report on the evaluations of probationary licensed staff shows that all probationary staff have been evaluated at least once.
C. November 30 enrollment figures show enrollment for the end of November is above budgeted numbers, but we have lost four elementary students in December.
9. Truth in Taxation Hearing: Redemske reported on the 2016-17 budget and the proposed property tax levy. The school district levy decreased by $130,642.81 or 4.73% from the prior year.
10. New Business
A. M/S Liljequist/Michalicek - Motion to approve transferring $10,558.08 from Fund 01 to Fund 02 to cover the half of the deficit from the prior year. Aviand’s will be sending a check to cover the remainder. Motion carries 4-3. Elsenpeter, Paumen and Mavencamp opposed.
B. M/S Elsenpeter/Paumen - Motion to approve Coach Knudsen’s request to take the softball team to California from March 24 through March 30, 2017. Motion carries 7-0.
C. M/S Paumen/Liljequist - Motion to certify the 2016 payable 2017 tax levy at $2,631,399.16 after adjustments. Motion carries 7-0.
11. Representative Reports
A. District Leadership Team: Redemske reported that he is working on options for hiring the Lead Peer Coach with the QComp Revenue for FY18. A proposal will be brought back to the advisory board.
B. Meeker and Wright Special Education Cooperative: Thomas reported the Mary Plante has been hired as the new business manager, the next meeting will be in Annandale to tour the new Sholund School for Girls.
C. Minnesota High School League: Paumen reported the Board of Directors met on December 1. The amendment to provide a guaranteed position on the MSHSL Board of Directors for school superintendents failed after the quorum in a mail ballot was not reached, the board voted to approve consolation play for the girls and boys basketball state tournaments beginning in the 2016-17 season on a two-year trial basis and a policy that implements a pitch-count in baseball, effective with the 2017 season was approved.
D. Schools for Equity in Education: Liljequist reported that the Commissioner of Education gave an update on the legislative session and there was a presentation on social emotional learning by Dr. Clayton Cook from the U of M.
E. Technology Committee: Redemske reported on the December 6 meeting. The E-Rate revenue for telecommunications has been phased out. Our computers have been upgraded to Window 10. The technology department is working on a list of future technology needs and the cost associated with those items.
F. Wright Technical Center: Michalicek reported that the audit was presented at the last meeting, 10th graders are starting tours, the house is still for sale and students will be traveling to NDSCS for a tour.
G. Elementary School: Sawatzke reported on the staff appreciation ice cream social and the breakfast for LEEA and Support Staff Award winners. The special education department and the students in Rachel’s Challenge, along with donations from the Lions, staff and students put together 20 Thanksgiving Baskets for families in need. December 2 was the end of the first trimester, winter concerts started on December 8, the Irish Pride Celebration is on Tuesday.
H. High School: Hansen reported that mid-quarter grades are due on Tuesday, concerts for the holiday season will start on Tuesday evening, the mixed choir and jazz band will travel to Buffalo to host concerts at the local nursing homes, NAEP testing for the 8th graders will be on March 7, ACT testing for juniors and seniors will be on February 28, the Wright Tech tour will be on January 6 and report cards will be going paperless beginning in the 2nd semester.
12. Committee Reports
A. Activities Committee: Paumen reported on the requests from the coaches: track repairs, additional storage, basketball hoop leveling, adding a Senior High Knowledge Bowl, the gymnastic equipment repairs/replacement, scoreboards in the gym need to be replaced, add more trophy cases, creating a co-op for marching band.
B. Finance and Programs Committee: Redemske reported at the meeting the food service transfer request was discussed and the finance committee recommendation to approve the transfer from fund 01. Next year’s budget was reviewed, salaries for steps only for the current staff are projected at an increase of about $87,000, and the enrollment is projected to be down from the current year. Once the FY18 “What if” spreadsheet is available, new revenue numbers will be computed and the preliminary budget will be completed. The district will be going out for health insurance bids this year.
