The Maple Lake boys basketball team is 4-7 overall and 2-3 in Central Minnesota Conference play after two games last week.
On Thursday, Jan. 12, the Irish traveled to Eden Valley to take on CMC foe the Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles and lost 75 to 54.
On Saturday, Jan. 14, the Irish hosted Rockford. The non-conference opponent defeated Maple Lake 62-50.
The Eagles claimed the lead early, but the Irish kept it close through much of the first half.
EV-W pulled away to claim a 12 point, 38-26, lead at the break.
The Irish battled back during the second half, closing the gap to seven with seven minutes to go, but in the end, Maple Lake gave up too many second-chance points and went home with the loss.
