Boys suffer three losses


Maple Lake’s No. 10, Andy Mavencamp, had 12 points in the Irish loss to HL-W-W at home, Friday, Jan. 20. Maple Lake fell to the Lakers 51-61.

The Maple Lake boys basketball team suffered three losses last week, two at the hands of Central Minnesota Conference foes.
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the Irish went on the road to face Holdingford and fell 71-47 to the Huskers. On Friday, Jan. 20, Maple Lake hosted Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted and lost 61-51.
On Monday, Jan. 23, the Irish fell 75-66 to Mayer Lutheran.
The Huskers shot well from the get-go, claiming the lead and building on it through the first period for a 41-25 half-time lead.
It was more of the same the second period as the Irish continued to get beat up in the rebounding department. Overall, they were out-scored 19-2 in second-chance points.
Mitch Hoistad led scoring with 16 points and six rebounds. Cole Trager had 13 points for Maple Lake.
