Jack Klug controls his Watertown-Mayer opponent, Thursday, Jan. 26, at home. Klug won by fall in 1:10 over Riley Hertzog at 120 pounds.

Annandale-Maple Lake Lightning wrestlers gave up one too many points to fall 34-33 to Watertown-Mayer-Mayer Lutheran in Wright County Conference competition, Thursday, Jan. 26, at home.
Two days later, on Saturday, Jan. 28, Lightning wrestlers finished second at a 10-team tournament in Rochester.
On Thursday, the Lightning took part in what coach Ben Youngs considers “the most exciting dual of the season thus far.”
With four missing starters, ANML took Watertown-Mayer-Mayer Lutheran to the final match and came up just one point short. It was Youth Night, where the ANML youth wrestlers got in free with their shirt, and Senior Night, where the team said goodbye to its seniors, so the gym was packed and full of electricity.
