Making history


Above, the Maple Lake girls cross country team made history last week when they became the first ever Irish cross country team to advance to state. The girls finished second at the Section 5A Meet in Mora for the honor and will travel to Northfield for the prestigious event on Saturday, Nov. 4. Michael Miller punched his ticket to state by finishing 11th at the Section 5A meet last week. He will compete as an individual at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Saturday.

The Irish girls cross country team made history last week when they upset Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted in the final 400 meters of the Section 5A race to become the first Maple Lake cross country team to ever win a state meet berth.
