Latzig makes top 10 at Albion Ridges

by Sally Krutzig
As the school year winds down, so does the golf season. This week, the JV teams had one final practice, before their golf season came to a close, while the varsity had only one meet this week on Monday, May 24, at Albion Ridges.
Now that conference play is over, the team is just playing a few easy invitationals at which the main goal is to just let the golfers have fun and play a round with other people their age.
“It's so nice to be able to play without any of the pressure,” said Annie Schwede.
For some of the golfers, less stress equaled better scores. This seemed especially true for Tabitha Latzig who, with a score of 90, tied for 10th place out of the 85 golfers there. Other Irish golfers’ scores included: Emily Carey, 102; Annie Schwede, 103; Kirstin Kubian, 109; Ashley Becker, 109; and Maggie Carey, 112.
This left the girls with a score of 404, putting them in eighth place out of the 14 teams competing. Litchfield was the winner of this meet with 352, next was Waconia, 365; DC Blue, 368; Annandale, 376; Holy Family, 383; Rockford, 384;  G-SL, 389; Maple Lake, 404; STMA, 413; W-M, 417; Mound-Westonka, 434; Delano, 437; DC White, 453; and Big Lake, 455.
The girls are continuing to work hard so they can end with a strong season on Wednesday, June 2, when the girls’ varsity team will play their final round at sections.
